TETANUS

Tetanus is an infection caused by Clostridium tetani. It causes muscle spasms that sometimes are so powerfull that bone fracture may happen. 


Symptoms
Symptoms include :
  • Muscle spasms ( usually starting in the jaw)
  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Trouble swallowing
  • High bloop pressure
  • Fast heart rate



Transmission
The bacteria enters the body through a puncture wound or cut in contact with a contaminated object.
It does not spread between people.


Treatment
Drugs as muscle relaxant and metronidazole(Flagyl) can be given for mild cases.
Severe cases require intensive care and potentially medical ventilation as well of drugs.


Prevention
Vaccination is the only way to prevent at this point.
